I have no issues with the companies and their products this CNN hit piece is criticizing. I respect peoples rights to bodily autonomy and justly acquired possessions.

We are lectured by the woke crowd “don’t whiten your skin” and “don’t darken your skin”. whatever

To be honest, skin lightening in Asia does not have a lot to do with blacks and not a lot to do with whites either, that's just a large part of their misguided historical and social culture in regard to class.

Poor people were tan and rich people were not like th being pale was a sign of prestige, same stuff occurred in the west before being tan became a sign of being rich due to taking trips and traveling and people not concerning themselves as much about face and prestige anymore.

But unfortunately, China and India still concern themselves a lot about face and caste.

So this is simply another case of something that appears to be about racism but is really more about class.

There are also sell products to darken your skin so it cut both ways

Wait heck that's minority cultural approp

Like. try being the PR guy at L’Oreal and attempting to navigate the maze that is IDpol do’s and dont’s to not offend the shareholders. A true hecking nightmare

My reaction to this incident where a Filipina Miss Universe contestant changed her look a bit

We are told by wokies that whites are ‘too white’ and that there is too much ‘whiteness’ , but then these wokies turn around and say doing things like this Filipina did is ‘racist’ .

You can’t have it both ways woke SJWs. Imagine criticizing whiteness and also criticizing this what this Filipina Miss Universe contestant did in this story in the link.

Who cares? It's not like Filipinos are oppressing blacks. Heck, the Philippines has suffered more from American imperialism than nearly any other country on Earth. I thought that cultural appropriation was only viewed as a bad thing when majority groups do it to minority groups, but African Americans are far more well of and influential than Filipinos are

If blacks are seen as cool and desirable in the Philippines, why is that a bad thing? You must see them as cool and hip but never show any affinity toward their culture that comes . You are supposed to just watch enviously.Whatever

In Philippines. Black culture is celebrated hard and that is what it is. That is their country and who am I to criticize it. The NBA is big in the Philippines and there is a huge community of "battle rappers" who battle rap each other in the most Eminem way possible that you'd feel drained.

Preference for fairer skin IS still in demand in some places, as evidenced by a still thriving whitening industry. Sadly, brown skin is generally looked at as something ideal and great only when it is something to be "sold," i.e. when family members patronize someone's look and add "foreigners love skin like that!" Another example: pageants, most definitely in the international arena. Once again because... "Foreigners love skin like that!"

So no, it hasn't improved much actually, even if there is refreshingly a growing movement of brown skin appreciation.

It's not as if this Miss Universe contestant is mocking blacks. She's trying to look a way that personally she finds beautiful, so this should truly be seen as a positive thing.
